Regulatory Non-Compliance

EIA regulations are complex and strictly enforced. Missing mandatory assessments, inadequate alternatives analysis, or poor mitigation strategies can result in legal challenges or judicial review.

Deficient EIA Documentation

Poor scoping, incomplete assessments, or weak cumulative analysis leads to requests for further information from planning officers, delaying determination by 3-6 months and frustrating investors.

Investment Barriers

Lenders and investors require robust, defensible environmental documentation before financial close. Weak EIAs that don't pass due diligence kill deals, regardless of project fundamentals.

Multi-Consultant Coordination Failures

EIAs require input from 8-12 specialist consultants. Poor coordination leads to contradictory assessments, data gaps, and incoherent conclusions that undermine the entire submission.

How Our EIAs Help To Deliver Planning Consents

We act as your competent expert under the EIA Regulations, coordinating all technical assessments and delivering a legally compliant, investment-grade Environmental Statement that withstands scrutiny.

We determine whether your project requires EIA and define the scope with the local planning authority—ensuring all material considerations are covered and unnecessary assessments are avoided.

We manage all baseline surveys (ecology, landscape, noise, transport, heritage) through our network of specialist sub-consultants, ensuring data collection aligns with planning timelines and regulatory requirements.

Each environmental topic is assessed against defined significance criteria. We develop robust, deliverable mitigation strategies that reduce impacts to acceptable levels and demonstrate compliance with policy.

We assess reasonable alternatives (including the 'do nothing' scenario) and cumulative impacts with other developments, demonstrating your project represents the best environmental option.

We compile the full Environmental Statement, coordinate quality assurance across all chapters, and produce a clear Non-Technical Summary for public and committee audiences.

If the planning authority or consultees raise queries, we coordinate responses and any additional assessments required, keeping the application moving toward determination.

FAQs

It depends. Schedule 2 developments require screening, wherever possible we seek to avoid EIA. We help assess whether your project is likely to have significant environmental effects in line with the regulations, if it's unavoidable we'd work to minimise the Scope to that absolutely necessary.

6-9 months typically, though this depends on survey seasons (e.g., breeding bird surveys can only happen April-July) and project complexity. We provide a detailed programme during scoping.

We coordinate a network of specialist consultants (ecologists, landscape architects, noise consultants, etc.). We select the right specialists for your project and manage them as your EIA coordinator.

We manage all additional information requests, coordinating any further surveys or assessments needed. This is included in our service.

Yes, though we'll need to review existing work carefully. Sometimes it's more efficient to restart with a fresh scoping exercise than try to retrofit poor quality baseline data.

It varies significantly based on project scale, number of topics requiring assessment, and survey requirements. We'll provide a fixed-fee quote after scoping.

When an Environmental Impact Assessment isn't required, we can still produce an Environmental Report. Think of it as a scaled-down version of an EIA. It covers the same key environmental considerations but in less detail, proportionate to the scale and impact of your project. It's a practical way to demonstrate environmental responsibility without the full EIA process.

We're renewable energy EIA specialists. Our Director and Project Managers lead the process. We're also more agile and responsive. You get the technical quality of a large firm with the attention and speed of a specialist consultancy.
